Welcome to my blog! I'm 26, and preparing to leave for Rwanda to serve for two years in the Peace Corps working with HIV/AIDS organizational capacity development.
Disclaimer:
The contents of this website are mine personally and do not reflect the position of the U.S. government or the Peace Corps.
Tips to help me actually receive mail and packages with all contents included:
*Seal all packages and padded envelopes very well! Think wrapping in packing paper, covering the ends in packing tape... you get the picture.
*Add religious symbols and stickers... as in "I love jesus" bumper stickers, crosses, anything Christian/Catholic is more likely to deter people from going through it and taking out the good stuff!
*Number any letters... the system isn't perfect, and they're likely to get to me out of order!
*Write "air mail" and "par avion" on everything!
*Be vague on the customs forms without actually lying. Take the tags off of any new stuff, use the term "used" when describing things like clothes or books, and do not list large values for anything! Once again, trying to deter people from going through packages...
*Any letters, photos, small or large packages will be much appreciated! Items I'm likely to miss/want:
Softlips brand chapstick (without color!)
Cereal... individual servings of cheerios and lucky charms
Itunes gift cards
Magazines with news
Photos!
And I honestly don't know what else right now, but I'll update later!
When you're safe at home you wish you were having an adventure; when you're having an adventure you wish you were safe at home.
